Smart Volunteer is dedicated in memory of our friend J.J. Greenberg
Jonathan Joseph ("J.J.") Greenberg dedicated his life to creating a better world. J.J. was the consummate communal activist, working tirelessly to help those with whom he came into contact. Colleagues praised J.J. as much for his celestial soul as for his uncanny professional skills. He never saw anyone’s weakness as an end in itself. He just showered people with love and respect. J.J.’s warmth, vision, humor, smile and gentle but magnetic personality embraced all who met and knew him. He loved life and had a reverence for it.
In his brief 36 years with us, J.J. mastered the art of giving—his time, his energy and his skills. He developed relationships, built organizations and strengthened communities. In essence, J.J. was the first and quintessential smart volunteer. He stood for the principles that drive the SmartVolunteer organization and the lives of its founders—namely, service, vision, responsibility, committment, and a passion for helping others succeed. For a lifetime of smart giving and heartfelt living, it is our honor to dedicate this site to the memory of our friend J.J.
