Neighborhood Tax Centers serve families earning less than $50,000 a year. Our volunteers help families claim the tax credits they have earned without paying costly commercial preparers. Many tax credits, such as Earned Income Credit, Child Tax Credit, and the new Making Work Pay credit, have been expanded and more families will qualify in 2010.
During the 2009 tax season, our volunteers saved families more than $2 Million in tax preparation fees. Their 5,000+ hours of service brought those families $23 million in tax credits and refunds.
Mission Statement:
Neighborhood Tax Centers provide free income tax preparation to underserved families in the greater Houston area. By helping people claim tax credits for which they are eligible, volunteers can give working families in our community a chance to build a financial future.
