Amnesty International Group 438 focuses on three specific areas: Freeing our Prisoner of Conscience, Abolishing the Death Penalty and educating our community about international human rights issues.
The York Chapter of Amnesty International meets at 7PM on the second Thursday of each month. Our next meeting will be July 10, 2008 and will feature a Burmese scholar who will be speaking about the human rights situation in Myanmar. Loft at Cobblestones, York, PA
Our meetings are a combination of information-sharing, working and planning. We write letters at all of our meetings to ensure that we are taking action and not just talking about the issues that concern us.

Through our research and action, governments have been persuaded to stop human rights violations and change their laws and practices. Death sentences have been commuted. Torturers have been brought to justice. And prisoners of conscience have been released. We ask you to join us - to take action and stop human rights abuses wherever they occur.
