Despite a growing number of volunteers, their full potential has not yet been realized. This is because most volunteer opportunities still consist of generic labor, and it takes lots of work to find the right match. Volunteers often manually sift through hundreds of search results on volunteer opportunities, only to find that they end up stuffing envelopes. Simultaneously, non-profits struggle with funding shortages and limited access to specialized services. Eureka! bridges these gaps by helping altruistic individuals apply their skills for good. Eureka! is a website that automatically recommends organizations in need of your skills. Think Amazon book recommendations for volunteering (If you like Kiva, you might also like DonorsChoose). After a keyword input, we use “20 Questions”-type process to narrow down recommendations you would find most interesting. We constantly improve recommendation quality by collecting feedback and browsing input over time to make your recommendations more personalized - the more you use Eureka!, the better your recommendations get! Providers can contribute services to non-profits directly, or donate compensation from for-profit work to causes of their choice. Volunteers have more options to serve. Non-profits receive free specialized services and donations. For-profits build their reputation in social responsibility while also receiving skilled services. To foster visibility and engagement, Eureka! integrates with other social media like Facebook/Twitter and maintains public leaderboards that rank users on hours volunteered, donations generated, etc. Unlike other websites, Eureka! simplifies the search process and engages socially-minded individuals at a personal level.
