Share What You Know and Love: Become a Citizen Teacher!
Project Description:
| |
Citizen Teachers are volunteers who teach middle school students new skills and expose them to new futures. Learning comes to life as these hands-on activities reveal the math embedded in finance, the science in recycling, and the discipline of rehearsing a dance routine. Teaching possibilities are endless: creating web pages, performing a theatre production, engineering their own cars, proposing an entrepreneurial business plan, painting a mural, and much, much more.
Volunteers, partnered with our trained staff and provided with curriculum, teach 11 sessions one afternoon a week for 90 minutes (typically Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30pm-6:00pm). Our spring apprenticeships run from March through May.
No teaching experience is necessary – only a passion for the subject matter and an interest to share their knowledge with middle school students.
