American Diabetes Association: Feria De Salud
Project Description:
| |
Dear Potential Volunteer:
Right now, the American Diabetes Association is preparing for its largest Latino event of the year – Feria de Salud, scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Every year in New York City the ADA holds this free annual health event for Latinos at St. Mary’s Park; the average attendance is 4,000 people. Through fun and informative workshops and activities, community members learn more about diabetes, the importance of making healthy food choices and being physically active on a regular basis.
Volunteers will be assigned a 4 hour shift between the hours of 9am and 7pm on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at St. Mary’s Park (St. Ann's Ave and East 149th St, Bronx, NY).
Volunteers are needed to assist in the following ways:
Greeters/Registration Officers
Greeters/Floaters: Meet and greet attendees at various points in the park, direct public to where they need to go (main stage activities, workshops, etc.)
Registration: Sign-in people, distribute goody bags, ensure completion of registration materials
Trainings will be held Tuesday August 9th and Thursday August 11th at the American Diabetes Association New York City Office. Please RSVP
