Project Description:

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is seeking forward-thinking, dynamic medic and nursing students to contribute to our orphanage and education centers in Kenya, Thailand or Indonesia. IHF has grown over the past 25 years under the visionary leadership of Carol Sasaki (CEO) and the dedication of thousands of volunteers from around the world.
IHF is distinct from other NGO’s in this field as we practice the ‘Pass it on’ ethos in marginalized regions. We offer the privilege of education to those who without our organization could not reach it. IHF has no central headquarters, as each center is a product of its environment and follows the cultural code and norms of its host country. As a health specialist we would give you the opportunity to engage in community projects, treat basic first aid situations as the ‘medic on site’ and work in medical and health education at one of our centres in Asia or Africa. In addition to this, as a medical work-study volunteer you would also be asked to help teach health awareness and basic medical skills to our children and local staff. This may include hands on projects or a series of classes, as well as just talking to and being around the children in a more informal environment. As a medical volunteer, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with an international non-profit and in myriad scenes of poverty, which may be of use to those wishing to pursue tropical medicine, or indeed conducting some charity work abroad when they qualify.
In addition to teaching, our organization’s volunteers engage in:
