Become A Discovery Assistant!

Project Description:
Would you like to: Inspire children through science and see their imaginations at work? Experience world renowned traveling exhibits in a profound manner? HAVE FUN while learning new things each and every day? If so, then becoming a “Discovery Assistant” at the Science Center of Iowa is the perfect fit for you! Here you will interact with guests in our general exhibits as you: help them build model rockets, teach them about the solar system, assist them in creating tornadoes, and so much more. You may also assist in our Lost Egypt traveling exhibit. Here, you will interact with hands-on challenges such as recreating Egyptian pottery, building pyramids, decoding hieroglyphics, taking photos on a camel, and helping visitors interpret authentic artifacts. Qualifications: •Enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds •Good communication skills •Enjoy the world of science and talking about basic science concepts •Ability to initiate conversations and engage audiences of all sizes •Punctual and dependable If interested, please email volunteer@sciowa.org for more information!
