GO Fundamentals Volunteers Needed!!

Project Description:
GO Fundamentals, is a tutoring program for GO Project students who have been identified as “promotion in doubt” by their public schools. (Promotion in Doubt means a student may be held back). GO Fundamentals provides the students with additional academic time on task to work on their area(s) of greatest need. By working with the students on a more individualized basis, we will give them more opportunities to master the academic skills needed to be promoted to the next grade in June.

Qualifications • College students, professionals, retirees, and high school students in good academic standing. • Commitment to and belief in all children’s ability to succeed and thrive. • Professional work habits. Responsibilities • Tutor one-to-one or in small groups students who are in need of academic intervention. • Punctual and consistent attendance; advance notification of absences necessary. • Actively and enthusiastically participate - supporting instruction and engagement. • Help prepare, record and put away classroom materials. • Ongoing communication with the program staff regarding student’s progress &/or concerns, and overall volunteer experience. Time Commitment • January-May, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3-5pm and/or Saturdays from 12:45-2:45pm. (You do NOT need to commit to all days but need to make a consistent commitment to one of those days. For Mondays, if you cannot arrive before 4pm, please let us know and we can try to work with your schedule.) • Attend mandatory orientation and training prior to start of session. • High School students must attend an interview as part of the application process. • Attend professional development sessions.
