Field Docent/Tour Guide

Project Description:
Field docents conduct guided tours of the arboretum for audiences of diverse backgrounds which may include school-age children, young adults, educators, seniors, and visitors with special needs. Docents will provide a brief history of the arboretum, explanation of the arboretum's programs, tour of the gardens & grounds, and state future plans and goals of the arboretum. Docents are critical to the mission because they bring a knowledgeable and personal connection to guests. Essential Responsibilities: •Lead hikes approximately 1.5 hours in length and average around a mile •Utilize Learning Tree Games (if requested) which are used after the hike •Answer questions and provide information about Taltree

Additional Skills Required:
Docents must be enthusiastic, pleasant, flexible, understanding, & willing to learn. They should have an interest in working with people, especially students of all ages. Docents must have good public speaking skills & have an interest in outdoor education. Close toed shoes are required when on Taltree grounds.
