Family Learning Workshop Volunteer

Project Description:
Volunteers are needed for our weekly Family Learning Workshops (FLW), a unique event where 6th grade children and their parents come together, receive a free desktop computer, gain instruction from a CFY Family Trainer, then pack up and take it home! Our volunteers stimulate, guide and connect with families as they explore educational software and navigate their new home learning centers. This individualized assistance is critical - ensuring each parent and child keeps up with the lesson and has a positive, memorable experience. Thanks in great part to our workshop volunteers, more than 90 percent of parents report feeling more confident about helping their children learn at home.

Additional Skills Required:
A desire to engage with families, youth or public schools throughout New York City; no specialized computer skills are required. Time: Choose AM or PM AM session (8:00am-12:30pm) PM session (11:30am-4:45pm) Training: An orientation session for new volunteers takes place at the schools directly before each workshop begins.
