During his/her shift, this volunteer is responsible for making daily rounds to the departments where the volunteers are assigned and soliciting information from staff members and volunteers about attendance, need for more training, answering questions regarding position description, mentoring new volunteers, making sure they are acquainted with the hospital, overseeing the Messenger Service volunteers during their shift.

(1)Ability to relate to staff, visitors, patients and volunteers of all ages.
(2)Needs good communication skills
(3)Empathy and concern for the patients and their visitors while abiding by strict confidentiality policy.
(4)Knowledge of support services within the hospital setting to refer patients and visitors, i.e.- Chaplain, VIPS, Quality Resource Management Dept, etc.
(5)Commitment of skills and time on a regularly scheduled basis (once a week shift - four hours).
(6)Maintaining a professional appearance while adhering to HMNMH uniform standards.
(7)Ability to offer support, encouragement, and motivation to volunteers with whom they are mentoring.
