Volunteer Naturalists and Bay Shore Studies Docent Training

Project Description:
Volunteer Naturalists and Bay Shore Studies Docents learn from experienced volunteer docents and our Education Director about bird and bay science education, interact with students, teachers, and the general public. Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary is looking for energetic individuals with an interest and passion for teaching children of all ages about the nature and wildlife around them. Interested in learning more about the Bay and local birds? Ever thought about leading small groups of young children (Kindergarten – 5th grade) in exploring nature? Become a Richardson Bay Audubon Volunteer Naturalist and Bay Shore Studies Volunteer Docent! Volunteer training begins late October. Minimum volunteer commitment is twice a month, but once a week is preferable! Children’s education programs are in the classroom, around the school yard and at our Center and run January through May. No prior expereince required. Backround check is required since volunteers woudl eb workign with children. Need to be able to walk outdoors on uneven terrain in variety of weather for at least 3 hours.
